Privacy Policy – Medilis Screen Recorder

Effective Date: October 2025
Last Updated: October 2025

1. Overview

Medilis Screen Recorder (“the Extension”) is developed by Medilis Systems Ltd.
It enables users to record the visual and audio content of a Chrome browser tab, window, or the entire desktop, with optional webcam overlay and drawing tools.
Users may save recordings locally or upload them to the Medilis RADical or Report Engine platforms for secure review and reporting.

2. Information Collected

The Extension does not collect personally identifiable, financial, or authentication data.
When you start recording manually, it may temporarily process:

  • Visual and audio content from the tab, window, or desktop you select.

  • Optional webcam video and microphone audio (if enabled).

All recordings are stored locally or uploaded only when you choose.

3. Data Usage and Storage

  • Recording occurs only after explicit user action and consent.

  • No automatic or background capture is performed.

  • Uploads use encrypted HTTPS connections to Medilis RADical or Report Engine.

  • Uploaded data is governed by the respective platform’s retention policies.

4. Data Sharing and Sale

The Extension does not sell, transfer, or share user data with third parties.
Data is used solely for the recording and reporting purposes described.

5. Permissions

Chrome permissions (desktopCapture, tabCapture, scripting, storage, downloads, offscreen, notifications) are used only to enable recording, overlays, and user controls.
No remote code or analytics trackers are included.

6. Processing of Health-Related Information

This section applies when the Extension is used in healthcare or research environments.

Purpose and Scope

During clinical or educational workflows, the Extension may record screen content containing medical images or patient-related data (e.g., radiology, ultrasound, or EMR information) for authorized reporting or teaching.

User Control and Consent

  • Recording begins only after explicit user initiation.

  • Users select the exact tab, window, or desktop area to capture via Chrome’s screen-share picker.

  • Recording can be stopped at any time; no automatic or hidden capture occurs.

Data Handling and Security

  • Recordings remain local unless the user uploads them to Medilis RADical or Report Engine.

  • Uploads are encrypted (HTTPS) and authenticated through organizational credentials.

  • Medilis Systems Ltd does not access or retain recordings unless explicitly stored by the user or institution.

  • Access control, encryption, and audit logging follow institutional security policies.

Medilis Systems Ltd designs its software to support compliance with relevant medical-data regulations, including:

  • HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act – U.S.)
